Selected Past Projects

Drug Enforcement Administration

Our work for the DEA demonstrates our ability to successfully recruit and manage linguists, meet unusual and unpredicted language requirements, modify assignments/locations to meet shifting priorities and react quickly to new requirements, as well as our ability to successfully reach into diverse ethnic communities to recruit appropriate linguist candidates.

During the contract period, we provided up to 50 Spanish monitors at a time for as many as 14 highly active wiretap lines, including some that ran 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We produced summaries, transcriptions, translations, and provided certification and interpreting services. Personnel went on Temporary Duty (TDY) assignments for 30 to 60 day periods and to testify in court. In many cases we were able to exceed contract requirements for timely provision of monitors, sometimes enabling the client to go up on wires with just a few hours notice. We at times provided monitors for TDY on the same day of the request even though this entailed monitors having to make last minute arrangements to be away from home for extended periods of time.

For this contract, we supplied services and products in Spanish, Jamaican Patois, French, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, German, Dutch, Finnish, Russian and English, among other languages.

Federal Bureau of Investigation

Here, we demonstrate our ability to successfully recruit, deploy and manage security-clearable linguists from an extremely wide range of language groups, including very rare languages and to develop new language recruitment areas, accurately screen candidates for their linguistic ability, and provide security reviews. We have supported FBI Language Services since 1990, first under a contract, and then under continuously renewed Basic Ordering Agreements (BOA).

We provide translation, transcription/translation, interpreting, monitoring, certification and court testimony to the FBI in languages commonly requested by law enforcement such as Arabic, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese, and also in less common languages including Nepalese, Chinese dialects, Bulgarian, Thai, Filipino dialects and Khmer. We provide translation for counter-terrorism training programs in Latin America and in South East Asia and for training materials for the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Budapest, Hungary. We have been the principle contractor for the translation and preparation of training manuals for use in the ILEA since the academy was founded.

On the rare occasion when we do not have someone in our database with the expertise required for a particular project, we use resources such as professional associations, community groups and academic connections to find the best available linguist and fulfill requests for translation even when the document is in a mystery language.

Department of Justice

For the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ), we provided high volumes of certified translation of technical and non-technical documents, interpreting, and transcription / translation. Since award of our first contract in 1994, we have translated more than ten million words for the Criminal Division. The large majority of this work is sensitive, case related material including Requests for Assistance and case summaries for which we have repeatedly demonstrated the utmost discretion.

This contract demonstrates our ability to successfully recruit and manage security-clearable linguists from an extremely wide range of language groups. We screen candidates for linguistic and professional background and security criteria, and submit security clearance forms to DOJ for candidate approval. We have never received a complaint regarding the caliber of our work, and no translator or certifier submitted for approval has ever been denied by the client.

We provided translation to and from Arabic, Byelorussian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Yiddish and other languages.

In a recent Contractor Performance Report from DOJ, we received the highest possible ratings for quality, timeliness of performance, business relations, and customer satisfaction.
